Sui Dhaaga: Varun Dhawan Is A Bonafide Tailor. Here’s Proof
Varun Dhawan, gearing up for the release of his forthcoming film “Sui Dhaaga,” recently shared a video detailing his intensive workshop sessions aimed at honing his sewing skills. Portraying the role of a tailor in the movie, Varun dedicated three months to training to embody the character of the “real masterji.” The 31-year-old actor expressed his gratitude to Darshan, the costume designer, and Noor bhai, the tailor on set, in an Instagram post: “Three months of training, learning, and becoming Mauji! Thanks to Darshan and Noor bhai, I can finally say I now know how to stitch.” Anushka Sharma, who co-stars in the film, also shared the promotional video, which has garnered over five lakh views and attracted comments from fellow actors Arjun Kapoor and Kiara Advani.
In an interview with the news agency IANS, Varun Dhawan shared insights into his learning journey: “I knew that I had a task at hand. I knew I had to master the art to convince people that I am a real ‘masterji.’ Darshan and Noor bhai helped me a lot, and I gave it three months to learn this skill.” The actor emphasized the dedication required, stating, “It took me three months, sometimes two hours, and sometimes four hours in each tailoring class to gain the confidence that I could pull this off in front of the camera.”
Varun Dhawan showcased his newfound skill in a previous video, creating a shirt from scratch as a birthday gift for his father, David Dhawan. The film “Sui Dhaaga” narrates the inspirational journey of Mauji and his wife Mamta, portrayed by Varun and Anushka, respectively. It revolves around their quest for respect and the challenges faced while transitioning from being unemployed to self-employed.
Directed by Sharat Katariya, “Sui Dhaaga” is set to hit the screens in September.
